That's where my 05 is right now. It went into fail safe mode last night after dinner. Truck just idles, all guages work, check engine light and the little wrench indicating fail safe came on.

hopefully it is something easy, and under warranty.

Might have had a fuel gell problem with it being so VERY cold. -19 yesterday. Our buses had fuel problems and had to use diesel 911 on most of them.

I had it in the garage last night, nice and warm. Also plugged in block heater all night (I know that won't help much). Unhooked the batteries for abour 30 minutes and it still did the same thing. Idles like a champ, no reponse at all to mashing the throttle to the floor. Both lights were still on. Hopefully they will look at it Monday morning and I can get it back quickly.

Oh and I've had antigel in the fuel all winter long. Using white bottle power plus stuff.

Dont these have the electronic pedal on the gas(I cant remember what it is called). if that was defective it would make it think that you were not even pressing on the pedal.

Yeah it is fly by wire. I think that is the issue, but there are other components that make it all work. I would rather have it checked out by someone that knows then start throwing parts at it.

I would agree, especially since just by reading codes they can tell a lot.

I'll need to invest in a good code reader now that I own a diesel again.

I had a similar issue with a bus. Be driving right along.... then no throttle, engine went to idle. No other indication of a problem. Finally at Capital city they listened to me and not the computer. It was the wiring from the throttle to computer which had an intermittent open circuit. But yours is giving other indicators. Let us know what you find out.

You may have a blown fuse that supplies the Idle validation switch, check fuse # 45. I had the same problem and this was the fix.

It shows in the manual that the #45 fuse is ignition switch RUN/START feed.
The truck start right up and idles fine.

Ended up being the EBP sensor and wiring harness to it. Looks like there was 10 codes that were pulled for this fix.

Warranty fixed it but would not cover the tow bill to get it there. At least I have my truck back, and it was fixed by a buddy of mine at the dealership.
