07 Expedition crappy 1-2 shift

Anyone know if there is a PCM update for shifting? My trucks 1-2 shift has a crappy layover feel and i have had an odd clunk/shudder or 2 simply driving down the freeway. Any info? truck has 50k on it.

Yes, there are many TCM updates for this tranny. Take it in to a dealer you trust.

It's a very common complaint, even has its own tsb so every dealership should know the fix.

Buzzard,

Are you affiliated with ODI?

I'm thinking about filing a complaint for another issue with my Expedition.

No affiliation, just where I found the tsb info.

the hardness isn't so much a problem as it is a byproduct of Ford Engineers.

The TCM is intentionally programmed to shift harder when tranny temps are colder. This is done to save on wear/tear of the tranny.

Unfortunately, they went a bit too firm. The TSB addresses this. Do you ever notice the problem when the temperatures are warmer (ie: summer)?
