How much for a Flathead V8
Anyone know know what a fair price would be for a stuck 239 ci ford flathead v8? There is one around locally that I was thinking of purchasing. It is a complete motor with carb, intake, etc. I don't have a vehicle to put it in, I just thought it would be cool to have.

tough one, they run a wide range of prices. locally I missed out on a running flatty with trans for $400 I was to slow to move. I thought it was a good deal. Now there's a non runner sitting here on CL for $1200 it will be there for a long time. If you don;t need it go cheap if you need it then the price rises.
I would spend $100-$250 for a non runner maybey upt to $500 if I needed a runner. It's just to easy and cheap to slap in a 302 and 2x the power and drive..
sorry not much help.

lots of flatheads have cracks and will still run, if it's stuck its a better chance it's cracked, but having said that I picked up 2 flatheads 8BA style that had been out in the weather for years and were stuck, I paid 50 for one and 20 for the other, the $ 20 one ended up not being cracked andthe other was cracked. You just never know with them. but thats half the fun- tearing them apart especially when stuck.
oh; I also once paid 500 for a running one only to find out later it was cracked
good luck,
Cheers
