Front Bumper Fit and Finish how toos... I need some advice

I just got my new premium LMC front bumper... and it looks killer... they claim its a 64 to 72 front bumper thats smaller... the 72 to 79 are larger??

Any way... my trucks drivers side mount is bent a bit... the top holes line up...
but the bottom on the drivers side is about a half inch out to the left. I figure it can be bent?

On top of that its about a half inch out too far to the front.. on the passenger side there is 3 and 1/4 inch from grille to bumper... and just under 4 on the drivers...

The frame is straight other than the front mount on the bottom.. the original bumper was bent slightly there....the po said it rolled into a pole slowly... I've checked in various areas, the frame is straight.. and not out.

Even with the stock fitment... I know you guys get that bumper in tight... just wondering what all you did.. Im guessing cut the frame and recess it back and weld it back??

We use a correct 64 to 66 only bumper.

The aftermarket bumpers are a generic fit.

yeah, I wanted one... I found a couple but they were beaten up pretty bad.

AND my wife bought me this one for christmas.... FREE sounds good to me.

This bumper doesnt fit any differently than my stocker though... with the exception of the dent.

I just dont want it all out of whack like it is.. more tight to the body.

LOL, I tell my wife not to get me much for Christmas. It comes out of the same account my check goes into, so I might as well pick my own stuff throughout the year.

I have to wrong bumper on my truck as well.... i got it at Keystone, the contour is a little off and the ends are different but thats ok with me. i would work the holes with a long bar till you happy with the way they line up and then shim behind the bolts to get the fit you want.

Look for a set of 64 only brackets. they are riveted to the frame and can be mounted to the cut off end of the 65 up frame and allow bolt adjustment in stead of permanent cut and welding.

There s no way to fix the ends other that re-contour and re-chrome. You can find a good chrome shop that will straighten and re-chrome a stock bumper for not much more cost than a new LMC one.

I've got a 64 in storage... I'll have to go check that out.

You would think that as many of these trucks as I've seen I would
know what the contour is... but I havent really seen a side by side either.

C4TZ17757D .. Chrome Front Bumper / Obsolete / Reproduced

Fits: 1964/77 F100/350, except 1973/77's with front bumper horizontal rubber pads.

It may look the same at first glance, but...looks can be deceiving.

There was only one front bumper part number, but there was actually TWO DIFFERENT front bumpers!

The bumpers used on 1973/77's have a slightly different contour on the ends, so they do not quite fit up against the stone shields properly on 1964/72's, as they stick out too far.

Which bumper has been reproduced, 1964/72 or 1973/77?

How many people know that there were TWO DIFFERENT C4TZ17757D front bumpers?

65 and 66 are formed ends on the frame for F100 and F250s the F350s and 4x4s are squared and need the brackets. with the exception of the 66 100 4x4.

But they fit all the frames up to 79 if needed.

you can see in the left and right side pics that the drivers side is further out ...the original one was like that too.

I'm just wondering if it would look better to pull it in tighter to the body?.. obviously the bent frame horn needs bending back, its not that bad and should be able to convince it back to its original place...

I know alot of my friends who have lead sleds and customs pull them in.. and I've seen one guy do it to a 65 c10. I thought it looked nice and neat.

Never seen it done to a slick before.

You can kinda see it poking out there... I never took a good picture of the front as I ripped it all apart
not long after I got it home.

These were the day we bought all the trucks.

Mine was done at the frame shop and they did a perty good job of it. where the front frame rails meet at the crossmember there are notches where a little tab sticks through the frame.
I cut replacements off the frame of my parts truck right after that notch and took them to the shop,
they cut off my very bent rails and welded on the replacements. i let them do it for me because i wanted it straight...
they have a frame table to do all there measuring off of. from the looks of yours you dont need to do that, but,
i bet your going to need a torch to encourage them in to place.

Well, thankfully I've got a friend with a frame rack... If I need it.. but im hoping I dont....
the rest of the truck is square.. or dang close to it. lol. I've measured several diferent times when I was doing my new bed I welded the bolts to the underside instead of it instead of them coming through the bed for a clean look.. so I only had one shot to get it right... perfectly square there. and on the rear with the gas tank that was all square..

the cab mounts are square... and then checked the front end back when I did a replacement and p.d.b. and p.s. upgrade... it was good too.. so I feel good about that... just dont get the frame horns being out .. who knows.

Funny thing about this Foose truck is, I saw it on ebay awhile back wanting a pile of money for something that was a gift to him after getting it done in the first place by giving a big long story how it meant the world to the owner and would never part with it...as to your question about getting the bumer tucked in, if you cut 3/4 inch out of the frame rail between the end and where the core support sits, reweld the front back on, you will get the right tucked in look. From the looks of the front, it appears as if the bumper is not centered either. I would look closely to see if the frame has been worked on before, it may be square and still be modified in the front section. How does the back bumper fit and also is the height the same from right to left?
