Cruise control on the fritz...suggestions?
Just recently my cruise control stopped working and before I take it into Ford I thought if anyone might have a suggestion I could check it out.
I have a 2003 Ford F-150 XLT Triton 5.4l V8 4x4
The lights all come on for the cruise when I push the buttons, but nothing happens. The truck just decelerates as if I never hit the button. Any ideas?

I called into my local shop they ran the vin and said "no" i'm not part of the recall.
Some other guys say if the air bag light is blinking it might be the clocksping. Mine is blinking first 2x then 7x immediately after a short pause. This happens every time I start the truck up.
Guessing that means my clockspring is gone but I'll have to read online some more

if your cruise control light is on while when you have no cruise control then the truck thinks cruise control is working check to see if the cable to the throttle is hooked up
if your air bag lights up and blinks that is a airbag code
and your truck was part of the recall, it's just been done already if you look at the master cylinder you'll see a jumper cable on the switch

Yes the cruise control light DOES come on and so the truck does think the cruise is working.
You suggest I try checking the throttle cable?
Any chance you might know of a link to show me how to check that?
(I'm no mechanic but I don't have a problem following instructions or diagrams).
Thanks

Fordtech08 - "Thank you" doesn't seem adequate, but none the less.
THANK YOU!
I tore apart the truck this morning and sure enough at the throttle body is where I found the fix for my truck. The cable that snap/connects onto the throttle body wasn’t connected and for good reason. The piece that it’s supposed to snap/slide onto/into was broken off with only a little piece still remaining.
Anyways I drilled it out with a small drill bit and then screwed in a flat headed screw that fit in the slide/snap female end on the cruise control line. Though it’s modified it now works the same as it should have right off the line. Everything slide/snaps the way it supposed to and…
Took her out for a test drive just now and the cruise is back up and running!
Once again, thanks everyone for the insights.
Air bag light is still on but I can check that when my ScanGuage gets here later this week.

Hello group,
I have a similar problem with my '02 F150 Lariat CC 5.4L. The truck is new to me and neither the cruise control nor the horn works. i have checked all (known) fuses and relays. I have tried the cc diagnostic, and the dash light DOES NOT illuminate. Should I assume that the dash light is not burned out? Is there a way to test the clock spring connections for continuity? and how do I access the connection?
i checked the cc brake pressure switch and have continuity there. Thanks in advance for any insight.
