Walker BTM (Big Truck Muffler)

I was wondering if anyone here has tried one of these? I want to dump the cat and crap stock muffler for something less restrictive. However, I don't have the ching to go with a full 4 inch exhaust. I can pick up a 3.5" cat delete pipe and a 3.5" Walker BTM (Big Truck Muffler) for around $120. Right now the truck is stock, and I don't intend to do anything extreme for HP. Will the opened up 3.5" exhaust be of any benefit?

Many have tried it and liked it. Me personally, I want the 4in Down Pipe. I don't want to get the BTM and then later wish I had gotten the 4in system. I would rather wait till I had the money do to it once and do it right and not have to redo it again. To give you an idea, all I wanted to do was 1 single program. See sig for how far I have strayed from that goal.

On my 2001 7.3 X the stock muffler has an offset between the pipes. The pictures I have seen of the Walker BTM looks like it doesn't have any offset. My question is will the Walker BTM angle between the offset pipes or does it actually have an offset. If this muffler will fit the X do you use band clamps or should it be welded. Thanks!!!

I just had mine put on and it was welded. Man charged me 60 to do it. I like it but there is a small drone at 60 mph. There was someone on here who put a resanator on before the muffler. I might be looking to do that because of the wife. Not sure if she will like it or not

The drone will evetually go away...

My Aeroturbine did that for the first few thousand miles and as time went on it went away.

The muffler has to break-in over a few thousand miles...

Does it go away or do you just get used to hearing it? LOL Do you tow anything? That's what my concern is at 65 mph towing 6K lb TT. Its light compared to what some people on here tow but I still don't want any headaches

It actually went away, I listened for it and listened for it and never heard it again afterawhile...

Even when I towed, I never heard much of a drone in the cab...

I don't have my 6637 mod on yet, will that make it a little quiter or louder with more airflow?

I had one on my 00 ex for 120,000 miles. Loved it and would put one on again if I were to buy another Excursion. Be sure to have a good muffler shop do the work as it is a tighter fit than on the superduty.
