For the grill mod I wanted something different but not WTF different and I think this has a stock look but will make people wonder what was done. I started with 6 teeth and cut them all in half and used the upper left as the new lower right and so on. What became a challenge was that the center or farthest point out of the teeth is not in the center top to bottom if that makes sense. So when you take two half's and put them together their is now 2 peeks and a dip in the middle. So I had to split them down the center about 2" and stretch the metal to change the peek to the middle so it would flow right. Then this left me with a void that needed to be filed and I tried to make a filler piece but I could not get the ridge to stay sharp after it was curved so I ended up using tig rod as the ridge and filled the rest in. After a bit of grinding and smoothing they turned out just like I was wanting. I then filled the holes in the lower valance and bolted it all back up.

I went for the first madden voyage today and that was all of about 3 miles to the gas station but everything worked well and it rode very nice. I need to raise the shift points in the trans (in 3rd at 15 mph) but other than that I am ready for a good shake down in the morning if the rain lets up long enough.

Well, I guess if you have to have teeth it’s better to have smaller ones!

Nice subtle mod, looks great, nice work.

Very nice!

Now someone can take the left over bottom halves and do the same mod like yours, but in reverse.

I don't hate the teeth - I just like to razz the toothy owners for the Halibut.....

What a cool and well-crafted expression of this truck thang.....

Well Done

I've always been of the opinion that the more of those buck toothed grills that you can cut away the better the truck will be........LOL

Just kidding, I like it.

Nice job of detailing the work with your pics. Very cool

Thanks guys I am really happy with how it turned out. It wasn't that I did not like the grill before but it just looked too bottom heavy and now it has a more balanced look. What I am looking forward to is we do a lot of family car shows and cruises and I want to see how many people notice anything was even done. I bet not many, I did a similar kind of thing with a hood on my 70 chevy C10. I grafted a 67 hood to a 70 hood structure and that allowed the use of the 67 hood with a 70 grill. They are not supposed to work together but they look so much better than what was built by the factory.

This is the 67-68 hood on my 70 SWB, 67's do not have grill surounds and because of this the hood 1 1/4" longer then a 69-72 not allowing it to fit behind the grill shell unless you like to cut and weld

This is the stock 70 hood and as you can see it is taller and has a flatter front angle.

Al Bundy (Married with Children) once had a dream, that he was on a planet with 3-breasted women, two in the normal place and one on their backs. "What's the third one for?" asks his neighbor. "Dancing" sez Al.....

Every time I look at a 51-52, I remember that line...
