Sounds like the arm springs are getting weak.

 

Our windshield glass makes things difficult.

As was mentioned if the blade isn't contacting the entire windshield you'll need to check:

Arm Tension
Arm bent?
Quality of blade.

I am a huge fan of the "beam" style wiper blades, but when I got them for my truck they didn't seem to last very long, where the ones on my 2005 SuperDuty and 2004 Maxima have each lasted 2+ years.

So I just went to Wal-Mart and got the mid grade standard wipers and they are working fine.

I tried the beams on my 2000 and after 3 weeks took them off and tossed them in the back. I won't put them on anything again.
Glad others are having good luck with them though.

But on the older trucks the factory wiper with a refill is still the best IMHO.

 

I love the beam type they work great but I tried three sets on my 79 and not one followed the curve of the glass

 

As a follow-up to my post above, I just got an email from wipers123.com and Trico has a $15 rebate on NeoForms and a $10 rebate on Techs through 5/15/10. I had to go to google to find out what beam blade was .. LOL Thought maybe it was something only a Jedi could use.. I have always just used snow blades, the ones covered with rubber, they seem to work pretty good for me anyway

 

I've done extensive research...you can get 16" in any brand. If you need shorter, the only shorter one I found was 14" (which is listed as the replacement for 15") is the Trico NeoForm Beam Blade. None of the other brands have the small size.

Thanks Jeff! I have seen those and never knew they were called anything different I guess. The kids car has them and they seem to like ice, always seem to be holding on to it quite tightly or vice versa.. seem to work great when warmer though

Just a couple wiper related tips from an old guy:
Rain X works good.
If the truck is being stored or parked for an extended time, even a few days, place a small block under each wiper arm. A coke or beer can even works. This takes the pressure off the blade and will extend the life thereof.
Slip a piece of pipe insulation over the blades when parked for an extended time in the sun.

Yes - I've found that direct sunlight is the absolute worst thing for wiper blades. It dries out the rubber bigtime. I also use glass treatment, but I use Aquapel rather than Rain-X. I love it, especially during night rain/driving. Highly recommend glass treatment!!
