06 5.4 SD Fuel filter clips?? Broke and cant remove
Trying to remove the Blue clips to change the FF I figured them to be like the old style. And that you just pry them up and out and pop the lines off....well both of them broke and the little pieces are stuck down in the fitting...Was i wrong to try and pull them up? I got some standard Ford Fuel line clips from the store but im not sure they are the same...Any help?

People where breaking alot of these clips over in the F150 side, you can get them at NAPA, and I think the dealer. Of course NAPA will be cheaper. Below are the clip numbers For the Ford part #. My understanding is that the replacement Ford part is pink, so don't be alarmed when it comes in a different color. I broke one on my F150, this was befor they sold the repair part. Luckley their was a tap on the fuel bundle saying who made the part. I knew someone with that supplier and he was able to get me some clips. At first people where buying whole fuel bundles, because the clips where not available. You need to get a fuel line clip tool.

Good post, good to know.
As for the 5/16" line, the first gas filter I got for my truck was that size, but was too small for the 3/8" line my truck uses. It also had the old style clips in the box with it.
When I returned it, the guy at the counter said there was a changeover which changed sizes and clip style. Based on this it sounds to me like you have the old style filter.

I think some filter come with the old style clips, as the filter has several applications. The blue clip that breaks is a replaceable part of the whole clip assy. When they make the pipe they use a special machine to insert the whole clip assy, it has a barbed section that goes into the pipe. You couldn't insert a whole clip assy, you would need the inserting machine to do it.

My 05 has the blue clip, and you need the tool to get to get it off the fuel filter. Below is a link to some good info. from what I have read the size difference is the Flex fuel uses the larger size.
