Radiators

My core support is:
C2TZ16138G = 1961/64 F100/250 2WD/4WD / 1961/66 F350/600 / 1965 F100/250 4WD / 1966 F250 4WD.
I want to put in a better radiator. I'll first flush the block to get all the old crud out of it. But I need a better radiator.
What is the best radiator to use? I want to be able to run cooler in the So. Cal. summer. I want a direct bolt in 3 or 4 row. and hoses.
Engine is a 292 yblock with no frills. Original radiator is good but not good enough I need something better. What do you guys suggest?

Banjopicker66 had a thread about the replacement he got at Advance Auto. He needed one for his '66 with a 352 and got one for a '76 with a 460 for $162 with a limited lifetime warranty. He said that the side mounts were bolted on so it my give you some latitude for installation. He had picture in his gallery. Hope this helps.

3 row Modine should fit the bill and not break the bank. Modine is my first choice for all my Fords.

Radiator by Ready-Rad - Part 43-3433 - Advance Auto Parts

Is this the radiator Banjopicker66 used? I need one for my '66 F-100 2wd. with a 390.

Radiator by Ready-Rad - Part 43-3444 - Advance Auto Parts___

This appears to be a decent price too and looks original. Anyone use this one?

T-427 - That is the radiator I put into my '66, for a '78 F-250 with a 460/C-6 combination.
It bolted right up to my '66 core support, and fitted correctly to the '78 transmission cooling lines and radiator hoses like it was made for it.
However, it does not look original. The original is all brass and copper, but this is an aluminum core with plastic tanks.
Also, it is not "correct" because the original 460 equipped truck came with a much taller and much heavier-duty radiator than this. Number Dummy pointed the differences out.
However, it appears to me that this one will serve just fine, even if it isn't physically identical. The manufacturer says it is rated for the 460, and after running it for a week hard, it seems it is cooling just fine.

No there is not near enough where Bob or i live.

All trucks need a four core here and in so cal. Its a dry heat but it still HOT I see 110 to 115 in the summer on a regular basis and traffic stop and go will heat them up real quick.

The 472 runs at 210 to 215 at these temps with a four core modine cross-flow.
The 360 runs at 195 to 200 at these temps with a four core super-cool vertical.

Thanks for the replies so far. I met with a couple of rodders from here (desert) they both suggested to contact U.S. Radiator and inquire about their new tripleflow radiator. Also suggested was their "Desert Cooler" I'll make contact on Monday I'll know prices and fit then.

Dave, One thing I have witnessed, air flow is as or more important than water flow. I know you always fall on bigger is better.

A well designed fan shroud and fan moving air through the radiator is the key.

Too many times just moving in traffic again (air flow) gets the needle moving downward.

We don't have 115º heat here in NC, thank God, but I'm standing firm.

Dave, I am not convinced this radiator will not work, but as you pointed out, you live in a hotter clime.
I think it will be sufficient, as it is a 4 row. Add to that that it barely hits the normal zone, and that with a tested 210 degree thermostat but no shroud. If I had a shroud it would cool even more.

I bought one of these last night. They had a 20% off sale going that ended last night so I thought the price was good. Sure beats the $399.99 price Auto Krafters wants for one. I see they have a deal that starts today for 3 days of $20 off. Free shipping too.

Does anyone have the correct hose part numbers for top & bottom?

Advance Auto Parts list 2 radiators for the 66 w/352.
43-3444 as HD cooling for $185
43-3480 as Max Cooling for $228

I'm guessing that the Max Cooling would be a 3-row. It's frustrating that the website doesn't list any description on these.

JMF,

The 43-3444 is three-row, 19 inches tall; while the 43-3480 is three-row, 24 inches tall. These measurements are for the core only, between the tanks.

It seems everyone is passing out advice, but there's one little itty bitty thing y'all seem to have forgotten...or are totally unaware of...

If Robert buys another radiator...he will need one that fits the C2TZ-16138-G core support....otherwise he will have to change the mounting flanges.

A 1966 F100/250 2WD radiator, 1967/79 F100/350 radiator is not the same as a 1965 F100/250 2WD radiator, not the same as 1961/64 anything.

Why? Because the mounting flanges are in a DIFFERENT location for 1961/64's. And 1965 F100/250 2WD's....even though these trucks do not use the C2TZ-16138-G core support.

1965 F100/250 240/300/352 2WD's use ONE YEAR ONLY radiators. These radiators are not the same as 1961/64, not the same as 1966 or later.
