C-6 transmission

I have a 1977 F-150 with a 351-M and a C-6 transmission. The transmission is starting to go out and I know a guy who has a 1983 F-250 with a 6.9 liter diesel and c-6 tranny. Does anyone know if this tranny will match up with my 351-M?

I dont think that the C6 from a desiel engine will match up. Unless the bellhousing bolts are the same pattern as your 351.

Iv'e never heard of anyone trying to bolt up that combination. I have no idea what kind of a bolt pattern the 6.9 has but if it is the same more power to you. If you are familiar with ford bolt patterns take a look at the pattern on the tranny and see what it looks like. There are only 3 bolt patterns that I know of for the C6. One for smallblocks, 351C, and 240 and 300 6cylinders.d FE engines. And 351M, 400, 429 and 460. I do not think ford would have a completely different pattern for the diesel engine and that one of those tranny's would work but anything is possible. Good luck.
