the early model Fords DON"T HAVE THE SAME REMOTE ENTRY SYSTEM as the 2004+ models. In general, anything from 2005 or newer won't work on a 2004 or older vehicle.

So I'd be very careful about buying a Fusion style key for a 2000 Excursion

What's the advantage of Fusion style keys over original F150 fob keys? The style seems quiet distinctive. When I bought my truck, it only came with one remote key and one key only and looking to add another or two. TIA.

IMO there is no advantage to the one piece key/fob.
I like to have the option of leaving the key in the vehicle and having the fob in my pocket .
That way I can have the vehicle idling/locked and I can access it with a button push.
I also have spare fobs that can be programed to any of my PATS equipped vehicles.
The one piece is large. They do not fit well in my pocket.

no true advantage. It is just one of those gadgets that I thought was cool.

true. if you have a huge set of keys, this 1 piece can make the bundle get big really quickly

I keep 3 keys (truck, house, mail) in my pocket. all the other ones I need are safely put up...but you should see my wifes keys. It's a mass the size of a softball

Please tell me that she does not hang that mass of keys from the ignition when she is driving.

I'm guessing that his answer will be disappointing to you.

I know this because I also carry quiet a number of keys. My house, my room, my shed, the gate, remote and key of my wife's car, remote and key of my backup car, its roof-rack key, my business's security gate key, front door key, back door key, locker key, my bike lock's key. That's quiet a number of keys that I have to carry. I don't consider the car cab as a safe place to store those items. The only things I leave in my car is less than 20 bucks and sun glasses. it doesn't take that much of an effort to break window glass. Once my ex-gf had her purse stolen from her car. The money she lost, 28 bucks. The cost to replace broken window, 140 bucks. Not pretty.

The problem with the mass of keys is the weight.
Hanging all of it from the ignition switch while driving will lead to a damaged key cylinder.

As most know places such as where I work are targets for thieves on occasion.
We do not lock the cars stored in our secure lot.
IF the thieves get past the dogs, they will break windows then get in the cars.
The result is a much larger cost than if we let them take what they want without the window damage

PS. They do not get past the dogs! Hee...Hee...Hee...
PPS. Get a trained guard dog and keep him in the unlocked car. You can let him sit on the laptop and no one will take it.

I know the thread is really old, but it sparks my interest. I have an 05 F-150 and the gf has an 06 escape. Are either of them eligible for the flip key?

You can purchase the flip style keys with the proper shaped blade.
If you have a PATS in your vehicle you must have a transponder in the key.
I need to know more about you vehicles before I can answer you with certainty.

What would you need to know? We both already have a key and a fob, only one for each vehicle unfortunately

OK that's a start.
With only one key you will have to go to the dealer to get a second keys' transponder signal accepted by the vehicle.
There are flip key blanks on E-bay that you can have cut at an outside location.
Make sure that you have the correct style blank.
You need the offset style

Blank Flip Folding Remote Fob PAD Key Shell Case For Ford F-150 Escape 3BT T0097 | eBay

You can program a third key yourself when you have a two already programed keys.
The fobs are able to be programed at anytime.

Just purchased this one for my 2010 F-150.

Ford Replacement Keyless Remote Fob Flip Ignition Transponder Key Transmitter | eBay

$25 (currently on sale for 5% off this price) seems like a good price to have the fob and key in one piece AND be able to fold the key blade away. Hoping to reduce key chain clutter. I'll let you know if I have any issues after having it cut and trying to program it.

Be careful to avoid purchasing one of these that's merely a "shell" and doesn't have the chip, battery, etc. inside it.

Here's the search criteria I entered into eBay:
ford flip key remote -shell -case -pad
