How can I adjust my Ranger tailgate cables?

The 2 tailgate support cables on my 98 ranger snapped in two. Bought 2 new ones from the Ford dealer and replaced them. No big deal, but the one on the right side has a bit more of slack in it, while the left one in nice and taut. They're both equal length. Are there any adjustments that can be made to equalize them? Had the truck since 98 and never been in an accident, so the bed and gate should be in perfect alignment. Any suggestions?

there is no adjustment per say/ Take the cable off that does not pull tight, and w the tailgate open lean on the t-gate(tweak it a lil) then try the cable again. Chances are your t-gate got a slight twist when the old cables broke.
