it's a redundant question. It's like what'll we be driving if the F150 or the Suburban go off the market. I take comfort in knowing my Chateau will be around for along time if I take really good care of it(or it'll end up like my '84 explorer).
I had not heard that Ford will be dropping the Econoline. I think its a bad idea as its a staple like the F150s are.
I know that Dodge has dropped their vans in place of the Sprinter thing which I think is butt ugly and over-rated.
Dodge had to do something with their vans. They were way past-due for a renovation and considerably under-powered. Ford was controlling the market with the Econoline so taking a risk with the Sprinter was worth the risk. I doubt that Ford will abandon what has been a profitable section of the market. If/When the full size Transit makes it our market (which is likely), I expect to see packages that cover the current market demands.
According to Car & Driver, FIAT/Chrysler (or whatever the new company name is) has canceled the Dodge Sprinter which is a rebadged Mercedes.
See there are mercy killings in the natural world. That deal was dead when Chrysler went to Fiat who competes with Mercedes in the European market. What one has to wonder is, what abomination from Fiat will replace it? Oh well - you can't get much worse than the Sprinter...
That sprinter is pretty popular around here for commercial vehicles. I thought I heard that Mercedes was going to sell it directly from now on.
I actually like it. Small diesel engine, low floor, high roof, proven platform. What's not to like aside from the looks?
