Opti-Lube XPD

Is anybody here using this stuff, and if so what is your opinion? Where did you get it from? I would like to try a quart sized bottle, but the shipping directly from Opti-Lube is like $9 on a $14 bottle! Doesn't seem worth it.

I've been using it for over two years. I buy 3 gallons at a time to get free shipping. The only place I know to get it is directly through the Opti-Lube web site. In over two years of use, I haven't had any issues. Prior to the Opti-Lube, I was using Power Service Diesel Kleen. I switched to Opti-Lube after seeing the lubricity test results that showed Opti-Lube was the second best lubricity improver behind Bio-Diesel and well ahead any of the other products tested. That convinced me to switch. If Bio-Diesel was available in my area, I'd go that route and use Diesel Kleen for the cetane boost.

All our diesel fuel on the mid-atlantic seaboard comes from the same pipeline at Cetane-40. What the distibutors and retailers add to it is anyone's guess. And i imagine they don't really care how long your engine will last. IMO lower milage engines will benefit greatly with this additive, from fuel pump to cylinder wall. High milage engines, maybe not so much.

I have a low milage 7.3 PSD. It is my 4th diesel truck. I use it.

Been using it for about 4 months. So far no issues, low smoke even tuned. Seems to have added .5-.75mpg or so empty on highway.

I use it. Does it make a difference? I dunno, I can't tell. I've not seen any evidence that it is not as good an additive as any of the others. It did do better in the lubricity test that was floating around here some time back.

I've been using it for about two years as well and also purchased 3 gallons to get free shipping. Previously was using Diesel Kleen. I really didn't notice any improvement in sound or mileage over the Diesel Kleen. Since the DK is cheaper and more available, I'll be switching back when my current stock is used up.

This the single biggest argument against OptiLube. The best additive on the planet is useless if you can't put your hands on it.

Power Service's distribution network is second to none. You can buy it practically ANYWHERE.

(When you burn as much as 600 gallons of diesel a WEEK, like I do, this makes a BIG difference.)

How does the lucas additive compare? I use it ever so often. Also a lot of old schoolers swear by either marvel mystery oil or atf....
