Hey there,

I am having some trouble finding a shop in Southern Illinois that can correctly bend 3" pipe. Does anyone know of a shop that has a mandrel bender? Also, my truck already does not have cats on it, yet there are few that will touch it for fear of getting fined for taking cats off. But what if there aren't any to take off?? I realize this whole "green" movement, but I just need to get this job done.

What part of Southern Illinois?
There are 3 shops within like 15 miles of me that I can think of that all do mandrel bends. but I live close to the hoosier border like 1.5 hours south of Champaign.
you could also just buy a kit. just another option if you really cant find one.

 

Can anybody give more info on these shops that do mandrel bending?

I haven't been able to find the names of the shops he referred to. Or any other shop in Illinois or Western Indiana, for that matter.

with regards to mandrel bends....if that is really important to you, it can be accomplished by any muffler shop....it is very simple......
bring a 5 gallon bucket of clean dry sand with you....befor they bend the pipe, ask them to cap each end of the pipe and fill with the sand. The sand will ensure the bend maintains conformity, smoothness etc (just like the high priced mandrel bending machines).

a very old timers way of doing things that still works...........and saves a lot of $

 

Vincennes Indiana has a shop that will custom make exhuast systems and will put on the system if you already have the cats off.
