Frount bumper

Anyone know what this bumper guard came off of? It was in the bed of my 1947 Ford Truck when I bought it, but it just don't look right on a 42-47. It must be for 1948 are newer... Thanks for any help.

In my 1949 "Accessories Catalogue" There was a listing of a front Radiator/bumper guard. This appears to be one.

However, I would venture to say that with the rolled edges and channeled styling, this was made for the 51/52 trucks as they were the only two years with channeled bumpers.

Just a guess!

Wanna sell it?

Yeah it looks like the profile of the51/52 bumper but doesn't look like it would mount on one without some grinding. A side shot would help out there.

I've got one and it fit perfectly over the stock bumper on my 52. It'll fit 48-52.

7hurst4, I sent you a visitor message.

That was an accessory for the '48-52 truck.

Looks like a nice one, would you like to sell it? If so, how much? Click on my web site link in my signature to email.

I think something like this was offered in 1953. I think there is a member here that has one on his '53. Don't know if the bumper cutouts fit the '53 or the 48-50 or the 51-52.

I have one like that, came off my '50 parts truck. The chrome is in bad shape but everything else is ok. I would bet it is going to hurt my feelings when I go to get it re-chromed.

That's a cool looking factory bumper guard. Did they make one for the 42-47 Ford trucks? All the ones I have seen look like a blacksmith made them.

Julie, Ilya,

I personally think installing the grill guard on one of your trucks would be a big mistake, no, an injustice. Installing it would hide and distract from the the beauty of the fine grill of the '51-52 Ford truck grill that is in itself a piece of fine art, no a sculpture. To hide the fine detailed lines of even one dagmar is denying the world the benefit of fully appreciating the joy that is the '51-52 Ford truck grill. Would anyone paint a mustache the Mona Lisa? Would some one put a Moo-Moo on the Venus De Milo?

If the guard is for sale the shipping costs could astronomical to have it shipped all the way across country. I would hate to see either one of you fine FTE members suffer any financial hardship. WI is much closer to TN, basically a hop, skip and jump away. I'm sure the cost to have it shipped here would be a mere pittance.

Not even I can go on with this absurdity, if the guard is available good luck, anything to cover that grill will be an improvement

Bob,

That was funny!

The one that I have needs some work and is missing the original mounting brackets. I could fabricate some, and fix the guard that I have, but would rather start with a better one.

I don't mind paying the extra $10 to ship it to the West Coast. I've got a FedEx account.

If I was a bettin' man, I'd look for that grille guard on eBay pretty soon.

In the meantime, I have a much better grille guard for your truck. I think that it will accentuate your truck(s) so much that I'll even ship it to you for free. This grille truly hides.... I mean brings out the beauty of the monkey face. Matter of fact, the guard makes it appear like the monkey is inside the cage at a zoo.
