Toploader 4 Speed (T-18)

Ok so I know my tranny (T-18) is a toploader. I just dont know exactly what that means so Im just curious. Granted Ive dropped my tranny/t-case 3 times before i finaly got my clutch working corretcly.

There is a removable top cover on the trans and that is how the gears and internals are put in. Loaded from the top so to speak
