Wife has an 2005 escape with 4 cyl engine. The throttle sticks when it is cold outside. Anyone else have or had this problem. lubbed throttle inside but has not helped. should i check the throtle body for any debris that would cause it to stick.
My wife's 06 4cyl is doing the same thing. I've tried to figure out why for almost a month and can't find it. The good thing about it is it goes away after about 5 minutes, so this makes her FINALLY let the vehicle warm up a couple of minutes before she hits the road. Otherwise, it's start the truck, and hit the road.
I used to wonder how a TB would sludge up since only clean filtered air runs thru it.
Asked a mechanic and according to him when a hot engine is shut off oil fumes from the crankcase come up thru open intake valves. Theres less fumes from synthetic.
Yup that how my wife drives. start, drive and she has a heavy foot. gotta love them.

They may be sticky but it's not due to the recall. It was only up to 2004 and only the V6. It was a defect in spacing on the engine cover. It actually happened to me last year after owning it for over 250k miles. I put the throttle down all the way to merge onto the highway and it stayed. I pulled over and could feel it under the cover. I took the cover off and it's been in my garage since.
