Changing to Rotella Syn 5w40... may

OK I have read all over the place in here to change to Rotella Syn 5w40. Now..many years ago....I heard that changing to synthetic, you have to obviously drain the old oil, flush and fill with the synthetic, run for about 50 miles then change oil again using synthetic. Is this the caes or is it BS? Now it was a few yrs ago...like 20. I am still running rotella 15w40 because of what I thought needed to be done for switching over as well as the fear of leaks forming cause that is something else that I have heard happens at times that the synthetic somehow opens up leaks in weak points. My truck doesn't drip anything anywhere right now and I kind of like that.

Just drain the old, refill with Synth and close the hood. Some folks suck out the oil out of the HPOP for good measure. I switched over about 18 months ago to Synth and didn't do anything special. My truck loves it, no more romps and I don't leak a drop. I don't notice any consumption between changes or any difference in amount of oil blow-by in my CCV trap.

Cool...thanks guys. Weather is changing for the better this weekend so I will be changing it then.

OK another question....

#8 getting fuel starved....some quick easy crossover to resolve that. Supposed to quiet some of the engine "Clatter" too.

Details?

i switched over to full syn in 2007 and never looked back. never had any problems with leaks, if anything the PSD runs alot better especially in the cold. highly recommend the switch. Walmart is still the cheapest around here to get Rotella 5w40. i change mine out every 6 months with a filter change out every 2 or 3 months. we can run syn a bit longer than dino before it breaks down. always get a OA (oil analysis) from blackstone or another trusted lab to dial in extended oil change interval times.

hope this helps.
thanks.

You can make it work by grinding a bit off the baby's butt to get clearance for the driver side rear fuel rail connection. I had to do that for the DFA CCK on my E99.

Call Clay to confirm.

I got carried away as you can see in pic.

The Wally World at the Southlands Mall had some last weekend for $19.50/gal. It's now branded as 5w-40 T-6 Synth oil but still the same stuff.

+1 on the Rotella 5/40 synth, change and go. I fired right up this am at 0630, about 3' (plugged in for a couple of hours).

The Wally World on Arapahoe just E of I-25 had some last time I was in there, too. $19/G.

Edit: and will likely be doing the RiffRaff FRx in the spring...
Edit II: HAH, lookit there, just hit 100 posts. Nothing to the REAL gurus here, but just happed to see that...

2x on the Riffraff FRx, Clay already knows it'll be my next purchase when my budget recovers.

How many miles do you guys typically run the Rotella Synthetic?

Another vote for the synthetic change out with no special precautions and I'm running Clay's FRx kit and it did quiet up the motor some, nice kit..
