Aaaa. You should be good to deal with this. Lot of your questions comes down to
How hard you drive. LOL...
Well if you drive alot on the highway and drive reasonable you will notice a better gas mileage. If you should notice some improvement in gas. But I haven't been able to find out any compression ratios limits or engine build specs for these. Other then this list
Make FORD
Engine Type V8
Liter 5.0
CID 302
Engine Size 5.0L/302
Beginning Year 1968
Ending Year 2001
Engine Family Ford small block Windsor
Cylinder Head Style (application) Stock configuration
Carburetor Mounting 4-barrel square bore

Right now, I think the stock compression ratio is around 8.0, so I should be safe there. I basically drive like grandma for the most part, but I do get an urge to lean on the loud pedal every now and then. With a blower, I'm sure it will be more frequent.
A buddy of mine put some different mufflers on his car and I told him it would make his gas mileage go down. He said he had never heard of that. I said you'll like the new sound so much you'll be on the throttle all the time.

I had a maverick with a B&M 174 mini blower, but ran a pretty aggressive pulley on it. With the blower at 2.08 drive ratio, it put out 11-12 psi depending on belt slip. The motor would get to operating temp in a little less than a minute no matter what the weather. With a less agressive 1.85 drive ratio, and 8 psi boost, the temp was manageable, but the heat soak was pretty bad if you drove it for a while. Still pretty fun though......needed to run more fuel to help keep it cool, so fuel usage was not good even when *****-footing around with it. Justa the nature of a roots blower and a carb. FWIW, the car ran high 10's with a junk yard stock 5.0, ported 351 heads and a $79 solid lifter cam.
