Was mine, but someone vandalized it pretty bad (think shotgun), so it ended up being scrapped with the driveline being saved. Not sure I have a picture close up of the wheels, but I can take a look later.

 

What year was your bronco? If I would guess my first guess would be a 66 but it could be 67-68 to because it doesn't have side marker lights and/or reflectors.

It was a 1966. Used to be the plow and torch tanks carrier for the local junkyard guy. I drove it away for $500.

 

A little info on the split wheels. These were used to mount 6 or 8 ply tires. Back then tire mounting machines were not as good as the ones of today. With the air out of the tire, you could remove the split rim and slide the stiff tire off the wheel. I had done many a split rim duelly wheels and it has been many years ago but I can remember doing some like that as well. Back then they were known as widow makers. If the rim was not installed right, it would fly off as the pressure came up on the tire and take your arm off.
I am just getting started good on my 52 F1 and it has 15" wheels. By the time I am finished I want to come up with the 16" as I am going to stay stock all the way.

 

I know some of the early 16" wheels were split. But I don't think later version of Ford's 16" wheel found on the light duty trucks like the Bronco used split rims. I know 66 Bronco's 16" wheel option used only 4 ply bias mud/snow tire. Maybe that's why the rim wasn't split???

 

Hey havi, did you ever get the pictures of your Bronco drive train with the 16" wheels on it? Thanks please let me know because I'm stilling for some 16" for my 66 Bronco.

 

Since 01A is a 1940 Ford Passenger Car prefix, the same wheel was used on cars (the '41 'Commercial' prefix is 01C). 11A = 1941 Ford Passenger Car, so both Ford and Merc's used the wheel.

If a specific '41 Mercury wheel (AFAIK, there wasn't one), the prefix would be 19M. Every 1946/48 Merc I've seen had 15" wheels, while the Ford's had 16's.

AFAIK, 1955 was the first year Ford offered 15" wheels on F100's...and...as standard equipment. 16's became as option (were available thru 1979).

1966/71 Bronco ~ as original: B4TZ-1007-C .. 16" x 5" Wheel-non Split Rim / Marked #75192 / Use with external ("outie") hubcap.

Other applications: 1954/71 F100.

In 1972, Ford replaced B4TZ-1007-C with D2TZ-1007-E = Applications: 1954/79 F100, 1966/79 Bronco / 1975/79 F150.

Side marker lamps were mandated by the NHTSA for all vehicles beginning model year 1968 (began September 1967).

1968/69 Bronco's had reflectors, 1970/77's had lamps that lit up.

The reflectors for the Broncos really did start until the 69 model and like you said the side marker lights started in 70. Why the Bronco took longer then other Ford vehicles to get the new updates who knows??? I personally don't like the look of the side markers or the 69 reflectors it's one of the reasons why I like the 66-68 Broncos a little better.

If not introduced for Bronco's until 1969, why are the part numbers 1968 related?

C8TZ-13380-A Right Body Side / C8TZ-13380-B Left Body Side / C8TZ-13380-C Right Front Fender / C8TZ-13380-D Left Front Fender.

You're looking at these Bronco's 40 some years after the fact. It's almost impossible to find an 'un-cut' 1966/77 Bronco, and...

Bronco's have prolly had more parts swapped around than any other FoMoCo vehicles except Model A's, T's, '32/34 Fords and 1965/68 Mustangs.

 

I don't know that much about the US mandate in 68 but I know for sure the side marker lights did not start until 1970! I understand mix and match Broncos thing (I have built a couple that way) and even cut Broncos still don't cut away the side marker area. Apparently most of the 68's did have the reflectors but I guess the very early production 68 didn't get them.

I don't have an answer for the C8TZ side marker light part number but they didn't show up until 1970 model. Who knows why??? Yes I think the early Bronco is one of Ford's biggest mutt, not only from used pieces and swaps but also right from the factory. It used stuff form the Mustang, Falcon, Econoline, and the F100 so tracking and finding so of NOS parts can be a bit tough a times.

 

C8TZ's are reflectors, were used on 1968/69 Bronco's. DOUZ-15A201-A (amber R/L front) & DOUZ-15A201-B (red R/L rear) light up.

These were used on 1970/72 Bronco's (1973/77 are different), 1970/74 Econolines and on the rear only of 1970/72 F100/350 Stylesides & Flaresides.

Bronco parts are listed in these catalogs 1966/79, not in the truck catalogs.
