02 Ranger Only Goes In Reverse - Not a Tranny Issue
I have an 02 Ranger XLT 4X4 4.0 Liter. My truck starts up fine, & will shift in all
gears. When I put it in drive, the rear wheels move, but the front wheels seem to be
dragging. I can hardly move 10 feet or so. When I put it in reverse, it moves just fine
without any drag on the front. I've had the truck for a few months and the 4 wheel drive
has not worked since I got it. When you turn the 4wd switch in the cab, no indicator
lights go on, nor is there any type of sound of it trying to engage. Up until a couple
of days ago I have been able to drive it in 2wd with no problem when all of a sudden
this happens. My first thought was maybe a caliper or the front emergency brake cable
but if that was it, wouldn’t it lock up in both forward and reverse? I do know that
there is no power coming in to the 4wd switch in the cab, but it has been that way before this issue.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
