1947 Ford Truck ?

Hi all, new to the forum... I have a 1947 Ford truck, it has been in my family since the late 70's and now it is mine. I have a few questions about the truck. The vin-serial number on the frame is 799Y178####. The truck has a pick-up bed with the V-8 and 4-speed trans and has the 60 m.p.h speedo so I think it's a 3/4 or 1-Ton but I am not sure. Also the truck seems to have a 114 inch wheelbase, if I measure from center of frount wheel to the rear axle.. I think that is how you measure wheelbase? I was thinking all 3/4 and 1-Tons were 122 inch wheelbase. Anyway the truck is in good shape, someone tried to restore it years ago before my family got it and painted it a ugly tan color. I posted some pictures of it in my albums in the user cp if anyone wants to have a look.

Nice truck, Are you planning to redo it again? Or leave it as is?

I have already started restoring it. I want to bring it back as much as I can to original condition... The motor that came in the truck is a 59ab but a friend of mine gave me a 8ba engine and transmission. I have a question about the transmission that came with the 8ba engine. The trans is a 59T-7006 but it has some kind of wheel on it (see pic). Is it a PTO are some type of balancer and can it be taken off if I need to use it...

That is the emergency brake drum. The brake shoes are on the inside.

sharp truck! your gonna want that emergency brake, so hang on to it. the shoes are an easy reline, if need be, and hold rather well if adjusted right. (shoes tend to get baked from slight dragging, then crystalise, dictating reline)
