I neglected to mention the warranty, but they say the original factory warranty remains. There is no 'reset' on the warranty if you get a new motor. So that being said the engine replaced will have warranty the same as the original engine and will expire when the vehicle is either 60 months old, or when the odometer reaches 160,000 km. So I guess what this means is if your motor goes at 159,999km and you get a new one on warranty you essentially have no warranty on it.
So this is better than what some people were suggesting about it being a one year or limited mileage etc.

It sounds like they don't really know, but have to come up with something. Anyway glad to hear you got your wheels back. Long time to be without.

This has been an epic saga equal to Homer's writings. I'm glad to hear that Ford finally came through on it. I would bet that someone in upper management has been reading these posts also. I had a similar episode with Ford with a 427 Tunnel Port engine that I built with all ford parts. Ford advertized that the parts would be warranteed for 90 days and I had a lightweight lifter fail, a push rod went through the bottom and tried to stop the engine causing a lot of damage. I went to several dealerships that I bought parts from and got no help. Finally through the help of Bob Coble I got with Hubert Platt who gave me the private number to the head honcho of Ford racing, a division that didn't exist at the time, and I explained what happened. He sent a fax to the regional manager in So. Florida authorizing anything I needed. I could have got a whole built engine but I only took the parts needed to repair my engine. I was pretty dumb at that time, it wouldn't happen today if it was offered.
Once again, I'm glad to hear that it was taken care of.

Glad your stuff got fixed, the suggestion is you get the BETTER of one year or the rest of your factory warranty.
