Class IV hitch for 09's?

Have an 09 STX 4.6L 3V...all I can find are Class III hitches, and one "Class III/IV" hitch (whatever that means?). My truck 133" Supercab 3.73 gear ratio: max loaded trailer weight rating is 8000lb, and seems like the Class III hitches are rated to 6000lb normal and 10000lb with weight distribution system. Do they make class IV or V's for my truck...?

I'm getting endless ribbing from my f250 SD buddy that I can't tow anything except from the bumber and that seems sketchy to me...

thanks!

If I remember right the "Class III/IV" refers to the weight distribution class.

That would be the best hitch you can find for your truck all things considered.

Could always have a custom hitch done up. Normally not too expensive, just have to find a place that does them and will warranty it. I think I paid around 300 for one on my old 77 f-150, but that was 12 years ago.

What would be the purpose of a Class IV or V hitch for your truck when a Class III/ IV is more than adequate?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I did a bunch of reading on weight distributing and it appears that something like the hidden hitch here would work. the double labelling of class III AND IV was throwing me off.

hematite - I've been told it's always safer to err on the side of overrated than underrated when it comes to hitches. hence i'd rather have a 'real' class IV than a class III which is also "kind of" a IV.
