256 Y Block water pump
Hi all,
Have not posted here for a while. I am still gathering up parts for my 1955 F-600 restoration.

I am in need of a hi mount water pump for a 256, not have much luck finding one.
Thanks,
Mike

Can you get the one on the truck rebuilt? My water pump went on my '54 F-100 239 V8 years ago and you could not buy a new or rebuilt one since it is an orphan year. 55 and up are different so rebuilders don't do 54's since there isn;t much money in them. I had to send it away and wait for them to send it back...

Those are getting VERY scarce! I decided not to use mine and sold it some time ago.
Looks like I'll be able to either put the fan on the regular pump or use electric fans.....I also considered fabricating a "high-mount" fan drive using 1" rod and bearings etc.....
It would work but I just raised the engine a bit and can just use the more common pump.
If you have the old one, you should be able to get it rebuilt....I bought a new one from RockAuto a few years ago but looking now they don't even list it!
Your best bet will probably be to just rebuild the one you have.
