New guy from Africa

Hi guys I'm new here. I have a '79 F250 4x4 with a 300 I6 motor. I just dropped a big end bearing earlier the week and need to overhaul the motor. As you can think spares for these older vehicles is not that easy to come buy here in South Africa. Where can one order spares over the Internet?

Welcome Lobo. I believe I'd check the closest E-Bay, maybe something will turn up close enough that shipping wouldn't kill you.

Hi,I would try a regular supplier like Rockauto, they may ship overseas.Someone out of all the places should be able to help you out.Browse through this forum and Google some of the parts houses and see where they ship.Great to have you in the forum!

google 'ford 300 rebuild kit' and find:

Ford 300 Engine Kit, Ford 4.9 Engine Kit

Engine Rebuild Kits - Precision Rebuilt Engines

These and many others come up on the first page. You may have issues getting these shipped, as shipping would be expensive and the duties/taxes deal comes up too.

Not sure what else to try for you. Good luck.

i think the best bet would be to go to a local auto parts store and see if they can try and bring one in...other than that all you can really do is search, finding the part is easy, shipping it will probably suck

there must not be very many of these trucks over there to make parts so hard to find

Thanx for the quick reply from all. I've also had a look at the Summit Racing website. I have to decide whether to go with just a quick normal fix or use this oppertunity to upgrade the engine. One of the questions i have is whether to go with an Offenhauser or Clifford intake manifold?

The Offy C and Clifford are the same type manifold so shop for price. The Offy DP is configured differently and is probably best used on an otherwise stock engine or mildly modified engine.
