Hey guys, own a 2000 expedition...have a hard time seeing at night, probably one of the worst headlight output out of any vehicle I've owned so am looking for some brighter options. First off I have the factory lenses which do have a little hazing but have cleaned a few times with renewal products....I have silverstar ultra bulbs and run foglights on when headlights are on dim which do very little to help..... have any of you found a good option such as another type of lense or another type of bulb to help? Looked on Amazon and found the "ford lightning" style lenses that am thinking of trying but wanted to see if any better ideas might come from you guys.....thanks in advance

 

Get it checked out ASAP. Gotta be something wrong, electrically.

Did you use the stock lenses or "housing" for them as just a plug and play? This is kind of what I'm looking for!

 

All I did was remove the existing lamps and plug these in their place. Keep in mind they only fit in one way into the housing just like the original lamps. Also be sure to fan out the braided heat sink before installing, it's just easier that way. I also adjusted my headlights down about 5-10 degrees afterwards. Being brighter...doing so keeps you from blinding oncoming drivers plus it lit up the road better. Forget about the high beam function because all it does is light up the trees and you won't need it anyway.

 

Hows the beam scattering compared to the oem ones? I've been contemplating hid or led, but in a projector as im worried about light scattering and blinding others

 

Very similar.

 

Go with a clear aftermarket headlight housing and upgrade to either LED bulb or HID for drastic improvement.

+1 here. Sounds like voltage drop from the switch having too much current being drawn through it. Adding in relays for it would help considerably by giving the lights a new power feed and reducing the load on the switch to a 1-2 amps in the worst case scenario.

Alloro, those LED bulbs look great and draw half the current of regular 9007s, sounds like the perfect solution. I think I'll be getting a pair of them next

 

If for no other reason they really light up street name signs at night. I used to squint to read the signs, now I see them from 2 streets away.

 

Alloro - No flashes from oncoming cars with the slight downward adjustment?

 

The only time I got flashed is when it was raining out and the roads were wet. As I'm sure you've witnessed, when roads are wet the light reflects off the road and makes oncoming headlights appear brighter.
