56 Frame VIN Number - Where is it really?
I've done the search, and indications are that the VIN number should be on the top of the frame rail, above the front axle on the passenger side. If I'm mistaken please correct me.
From inside the engine compartment, this portion of the frame is completely obscured by the fender liner, so nothing is visible:
Maybe you have to look through the wheelwell to see the VIN number? If so it would be hard for police to check it easily with the wheel in the way, and even then, I don't see much indication of anything stamped on the frame:
The truck is running safely now. I got my temporary permit so I can drive to the scales. Then it's off to the DMV for them to inspect the truck so I can get it registered in CA.
I'd like to know where the VIN is on the frame. I do have the plaque on the driver's door frame and that VIN does match the title.
Can anyone assist?
Thanks,
Gustave

This guy just found his on the frame rail near the core support crossmember. There's an indent in the inner fender over the top of the frame rail to expose it. See if yours is the same.

Hey Merc,
Isn't it funny how this stuff all comes up at the same time? 3 Threads on Vins, 3 threads on heaters, the typical 3 or 4 on engine types and transmissions, and four on wiring?
Been this way since I can remember. I wonder if folks with "Weather" do all the same things at the same time?
