Tire size For 67 f250 high boy

Check my gallery, I'm running 285/75R16's (a little smaller than a 33, if I remember correctly). I've been told I can clear 35's without mods.
imho, the 285/75r16's are a bit skinny, especially when view from behind (cause I like to be first!)...
btw: post some pics in your gallery!

yea i'm in the proccess of buying a 67 from my buddy and just kind of wondering how big i could go He's only got 265/75/r16 on it right now. i Think im gonna go with 33's the 285/75r16's are just a hair smaller but i agree they are just a little narrow for the truck. and i agree "if ur not first ur last"-Taladega nites

I have 33 x 12.5's on mine......but one thing about this setup....the extra width of the tires/rims puts stress on the front spindles....I had to replace both sides when they cracked and began to sag....
The bad part....I have the "rarer" DANA 44 front axle...so the spindles I finally found were the ONLY ones in the country available...and so far, no one makes new ones for that axle....so, next time, I have to upgrade my front axle.....
Also, when te tires are new, they tend to rub a bit on the fenders in a turn....especially moving over a curb, etc....no biggie, just a little grind and after the tires wear in a bit, they stop rubbing so much. The PO of my truck took the time to "open up" the size of the fender wheel wells on the passenger side, but sadly did not do the driver's side.....the mod was basically adding a bit of room to the front area on the front fenders and adding a bit of room to the rear of the back wheels. I can measure the differences and post them if you like...

My 67 had a 44 in it and I also have a plow on front with the 33s. I couldn't find anything wrong with the axle when I replaced it this summer with another 44 out of a 77. I now also have a 77 rear which is the HD and I threw in the rear disk brakes for extra measure. This truck tipped the scales this year with a load of logs in back at 12,000 lbs gross (have witnesses). And drove it 50 miles like that. Still running real strong.

I bought brand new spindles for my f-100 on ebay last summer. mine has a dana 44. According to what my dad told me, you have to watch the wheel offset cuz he ruined a pair of spindles back when he owned mine.

Kahuna raises a good point:
My 67 250 4x4 has big blocks in the back (with horns, so assuming stock), and something that looks like a cheesy lift block in the front (maybe 1 1/2"), but the shackles etc look stock.
So the question is: was there a stock block in the front, and does anyone know what the stock height was?
Edit: uh, dumb question, since gvw will prolly make a difference (due to the springs), and the three or four tire options available.
So really the question from me is: were there blocks in the front from the factory?

DarrellJ,
I own the same truck as you do right down to the 428,D44,D24,D60 and NP435.
To the best of my knowledge and my registration #'s my truck is stock with the blocks in the rear (approx 4" w/horns - as you say) and "no" blocks in the front.
I can take some pics of mine if you like and compare.
One other thing DarrellJ, I was looking at your profile pic's and noticed your heater controls under the radio.....I always thought 1967 was a stand alone year with 3 push/pull *****.....not the slider type like 68-72.

Hi 67 Merc 4x4,
You got it, my cab is a 68 (previous owner's doing).
I'm curious about the stance of your truck without the blocks in the front -- so post up some pics in your gallery!
Where are you located?
Mine sits pretty level (which I like), so I'm curious to see the stock stance...
