anyone have a egt probe go through your turbo?

i am about to install a autometer egt gauge in my truck. im going to intall the probe in the manifold. then i got to thinking of how long its going to last or how good of quality this probe is, and i dont want it breaking off after 100k and going through my turbo. has anyone ever heard of this happening? one more question for those who installed the autometer. once you put the plug in the manifold and insert the probe and tighten down the set screw does it leak exhaust gases a bit. i feel that it might leak gases because the probe is not a tight fit through the plug?

Nope... but It shouldn't leak any exhaust.

I did have my probe unscrew and got loose.. Had to put a hose clamp around it and use some wire to keep it from turning.. I would not worry about the probe going into the turbo..

Hint: When tapping the pipe thread, be sure not to go to deep.. keep trying the probe in the threaded hole until you are deep enough.. too deep and you are screwed.. !

I have Autometer. Mine threaded in nicely. I didn't even have a proper tap handle I used an adjustable Wrench and Chanel-Locks with a ton of patience! As for the probe going through the turbo, it's one solid piece- I don't really see it breaking or going anywhere .

I have the autometer pyro as well and installed it in the up-pipe without any issues. I did lose the little ceramic washer but still no exhaust leaks. Like Jack said, he probe is one piece and pretty stout.
