Light issue on 06 f250

Having an issue with all of my exterior lights on my 06 f250 diesel. Truck has been out plowing during the last snow storm and all was fine. Plow was unhooked and one of the HID headlights was not working (usually typical so no big deal) I didnt mess with it cause it was raining. Xmas day its still raining so I hadnt touched it but had to drive. So i dealt with one headlight and had the fog lights on. Upon driving home again in pouring rain, the other HID fails (again thinking its a bad connection) i continue to drive with just the fog lights as Im almost home. Next thing I know I heard a relay click (like you hear when the headlights are on AUTO and they turn on/off) all the lights go out. I have no headlights, no fog lights, no dash lights, no tail lights, no clearance lights and no side marker (mirror) lights) Checked hi-beam, low-beam fuses, console fuse, tail light fuse etc... and they were all good. Next day I plugged my plow back in (western ultramount) and the plow lights hi beam and low work fine, but again I have no tail lights, clearance lights, dash lights etc.... any clue what this could be and what to check? If I could avoid the dealer it would be great, but Im thinking the HIDs probably need to come out and Ill probably end up just leaving them out. I just find it odd that if the headlights were bad/shorted out why did everything else stop working as well?

first i would check all the fuses because some do things that are not marked in the book, swap relays if you can ones that have the same numbers on them. could be the headlight switch. good luck

Sounds like a ground connection in the harness to me.

ok well now there is finally some day light with no rain. the "exterior lamps" 15a fuse is what is poping. ive taken out the HIDs, unhooked the factory fog lights and checked the wires on the lights and so far ive got nothing. Even with things unhooked up still instantly poping the fuse once the lights are turned on. any clue where to look now?

if it is instantly poping that fuse a wire in the circurit is shorted to ground, unhook anything aftermarket that is hooked to that circurit ( snow plow lights, extra lights ect.) if that dosent fix it, look for pinched wires in the factory harness.

Sounds like a shorted wire to me, I had one a couple of weeks ago. You have to trace the wiring harness and find it, or buy a bunch of fuses and disconnect one thing at a time till it stops popping. Check for water in the light housings or sockets.
