OK, I just bought a new 2009 F350.

I don't know how, but if I go 6 mph over the posted speed limit, I get an irritating "Please observe the speed limit".

anyone know how to disable or blow this up?

Sounds like you have MyKey enabled for that key.

 

And how does the truck know what the speed limit on each road is?

 

gps tells it.

 

I don't know about the '09 trucks but in mine I would have to reach across the cab, pull the door lever, and push my wife out. Then slam the door shut. Problem solved.

Personally I'd go to the dealer and have them reprogram the mykey thing to shut up.

I'm thinking they wouldn't charge you for doing that but that might be wishful thinking.

Wow - I guess I never knew that GPS had programmed into it what the speed limit on each road is. Stupid question but what if the speed limit on the road changes? There is a section where I live where they are fighting to go from 55 to 45.

 

GPS knows it on most all devices, dealer should be able to take care of the mykey thing. You might check your owners manual and see if there is a procedure in it to take care of it your self.

Don't have to reach across and open door for ejection here. My hearing is programmed to automatically go deaf when I hear that sound from the passenger side.

 

Wait until you get a speeding ticket in the mail based on the gps report to the government. Sounds like the next Onstar "feature." I suspect that Howie will not brag about that one on his Government Motors TV commercials.

Can you go into the GPS menu and disable the speed reminders?

Same hear but it works pretty much anywhere, at least until I get hit for not listening.
