what year???

EDIT: if it's the '99 listed in your profile, get some OEM Power Improved cams for it; i've done your typical intake/exhaust/tuner on my '99 and it was a little help, but not a huge improvement... cams are on my to-do list this winter before it's trailer haulin' season again.

you can find take-out stock cams on ebay from time to time for cheap. and being an OHC engine... it should be a fairly easy install.

The answer to your question depends on how much money you are willing to spend on your truck.

Cam change, better exhaust, a better manifold and cold air box will help some.

Nitrous Oxide, a turbocharger or even a supercharger would give you a large power boost.

Want more? Maybe a 605HP 4V crate engine from SVO would do it for you?

Ford Racing Romeo 605 HP Performance Crate Engine 5.4L 4V w/TVS Supercharger [M-6007-TVS] - $17,229.95 : Powered By Ford - Your only high performance parts supplier for your Ford car or truck, When you want it done right and done well there is only o

But, realistically, a few minor engine mods and a gearing change in the differential are probably all you need.

A gear ratio change would probably give you the most bang for your buck. Go up to 4.30 or 4.56 and that'll help the feel of the truck.

What year did the triton 5.4 come with PI heads?
I didn't know this even applied to the SD trucks. I'm only used to the 4.6 NPI / PI car engines.

got a nice 32valve 4.6 for a ranger project I'm doing, but that's another story.

Well ... just got the truck back today ...

Finally got the Gear change 3:73 --> 4:56. Some said "wow, thats steep" some said "you'll love it, another said "you're gona hate that thing on the highway" .... I definitely feel the difference, not sure what I was expecting...still a bit tough to spin these 35s on pavement

Satisfied, for now ... another 2k spent and got a little pep, but still searching for more pull...

shame you didnt go to 4:88's...

your comnig from the same gears i have and spinnin the same size tires i do.. i would go 4:88's for 35"s..

it puts you above the stock gearing numbers when you balance out the bigger tires..

going to 4:56 puts you back about where the truck was stock

still now that your done with the regear, you can do the tuner and i bet that will liven up your truck nicely.

p.s. repost with some mileage numbers after a few tanks if you dont mind comparing before and after teh regear.
