Ford security system button?

Fellas,

Just bought an 08, and it's got a wierd button near the bottom of the plastic below the steering wheel. I traced the wires to a box that said ford security sytem... I noticed it's never lit up, but when i pressed the button, and then turned off the engine and locked the doors, the led glowed red.

Does anyone have more information on this? what is is and how well it works?

The botton is the same as I have in my 6.4 PSD with the Ford security system. When you unlock the entry door with the FOB you will have about a minute to start the engine. After this time, the ignition key will not start the engine. Turn the key to ON then press the button and then the engine should start when key is rotated to start.

The last four Ford Vehicles I have had came with the security button with the Ford Secured System. The button is usually located under the dash near the steering column or on the side of the left kick panel.

Is this something aftermarket? There is no button or light under my steering column. I have never heard of this feature and none of my Ford vehicles have not started if I waited more than a minute after unlocking the doors.
