i worked on a friends '95 f150 years ago which had a simular problem, not saying yours is the same thing but the air bag module not only had a warning lamp it would also beep as a back up warning. if i remember right the airbag light was not on, i was working on it because it would not start (bad battery cable) but the low voltage on the system while tryiong to start it would cause the beep. everything turned out ok once we replaced the bat. cable

The chime is a backup for the airbag light. If the airbag light burns out, you would never know there was a problem with the restraint system until you ran into something and found out the airbag didn't deploy.
If the airbag light is blown out, which can be detected by the airbag module, it will sound the chime instead, letting you know there is a problem.
Turn your key to the 'on' position, and you'll likely find that the airbag light does not prove out with the rest of the warning indicators.

it's not an airbag module that is bad, your best bet would be to take this to a shop that can read the codes for airbags, I say this because unless you know what your doing you could accidently blow an airbag and first if it hit you while leaned on the dash poking some wire you could be seriously hurt and second if it does blow a bag and you luckily didn't get hurt then it would cost a lot of money it's worth the 80 bucks or so to take it to the dealer for them to tell you what it needs. then let them fix it or try your hand at it if you feel comfortable

Gee, what did we ever do before the airbags!
I hate to resurrect an old thread especially being new, but I'm having this problem as well. My light does not come on with the key in the "key one engine off" position. Does this mean the light is burned out or do I have other issues? My truck is a 98 F250 5.4.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I am not paying for something I do not want, if I could rip the chimes out, I would. I found a fix for me. I pulled the little fuse for the airbag, module and cluster. I disconnected the passenger seat connector as well and problem solved! No ding and passenger airbag is no longer in use and for me, its a win win situation. Talked to my mechanic and said all will be fine driving without this fuse, because this is all this fuse does, as long as I know that even in an accident, that the passenger airbag will not go off.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
