5.4L Truck buildup

I know this has probably been asked a million times. The 5.4 in my 2000 F250 has 264000 miles and I know at some point it will need a rebuild (still runs strong though). I tow all over and I am thinking of putting in a supercharger when I do. Anyone know what mods should be done to engine when I redo it? Just open to suggestions. I have rebuilt a lot of pushrod engine and 4 and 6 cyl ohc engines but never a 5.4. Thanks all in advance.

Same boat

I just bought that book because I am the original owner of a 1999 F150 4x4 Reg Cab with the 5.4L and 210,000 miles. I am looking to rebuild her now, but the aforementioned book leans toward the 4.6L and not necessarily for trucks. Still a great book and as a Master mechanic it should be plenty for you, but this is my first rebuild I am a little nervous, so I kinda wanted a little more hand-holding .

I have been looking for a comprehensive list somewhere (like a roadmap almost) where I can peruse different options and manufacturers.

Currently I am waiting for a return call from Comp Cams regarding their suggestions. I'll probably just go with Xtreme Energy cam, appropriately matched valve train, Gibson headers and exhaust, with mostly everything else remaining stock.

I'm in grad school and I start a new job in a week, so my time is limited which is why I'll probably have it rebuilt by a shop.

I'll be watching this thread closely....

I actually had a book like that when I rebuilt my first FE engine. It was useful for the most part. Thanks for the help.

Whoever you choose to do a custom rebuild for your engine, will use the
appropriate parts for what you want to do. They will also guide you in
choosing the right after market parts to complete the work.

Well, I've always built my engines myself and feel fairly accomplished in that area. This will be my first modular engine though. I have worked on them before just never completely rebuilt one for 'performance'.
