Unless you really don't want to do it yourself I wouldn't pay someone else to do it. Chances of finding a shop to do it that will do it right and not charge you a ton is few and far between.

If I was coming to SA area soon, I would help you out. I'm a few hours away and have a daughter and son-in-law in San Marcos. I don't know when I'll be that way. I usually go to SA at least once a year. Was just there in June.

Look around on craigslist and stuff. I found a used boost, and egt guage w/ brand new temp probe for $80.00. Bought the tranny temp new $55 and the three pod trim panel for $30 off ebay. Look around you could save some money. All this from Autometer is like $350.

I'm a novice in truck mechanics and I thought the install was very very easy.

The directions given with the kit and all of the pictures included with those directions were great.

Just get them and give yourself about 1 1/2 hrs if that.

ITP diesel has a great set of detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to install a set of pillar pod gauges.

proudtruck,

I'm not sure if you've figured it out yet, but paying someone to do work for you is like sacrilege on here. If you don't do it yourself, or get someone on here to help/do it for you (like I did, thanks again Cory), it's going to be strongly frowned upon.

I do think you could do it yourself, and you have lots of people here more than willing to help.

Go ahead and buy the pod and gauges you like. Once you see a you see everything and what's involved, I'm sure you'll also see that you CAN do it. If you run into any snags, we ARE here for you. Don't hesitate to ask.

I'm not going to answer your question but I will provide you with something to consider.

I went with Diesel Manor ISSPRO Gauge Kits for Ford Powerstroke from DieselManor mainly because they had great instructions and provided access to everything I needed.

In addition to the gauge set you'll want the paint to paint the cluster to match your interior and also spring for the drill bit and tap for the EGT thermocouple.

I have a "factory" alarm system that made it just a little more crowded under the dash for hooking up the power, but overall it was a day's work and ended up looking like it came that way from the factory.

"Cost" is relative. Compared to the cost of damaging your engine or transmission, the gauges cost very little.

Plus doing it yourself helps you bond with your proud baby.
