Need Help Buying a Engine Progammer

I have a 2009 F-350 Crew Cab 4x4 with a 5.4 gas engine. I would like to get better gas mileage. I currently get 13.5 mpg. Is there a programmer to help me get better mileage or any other modifications to get better mpg. I would like to get 15 or 16 mpg if possible. Any help would be great.

Contact Mike at 5 Star Tuning about the SCT X3 tuner with custom tunes. You can get a 87 octane economy tune as one of your options.

I drive 80 miles round trip. It is all highway miles. Even if I just drive around town it gets12.7. I am happy with the mileage, but if I can squeeze out another mpg that would be great.

I would not complain with 13.5mpg!!! I'm at 11.6 constant unless i take a looooong hiway trip then it goes up to 12.8.
I also have 5-star tunes and i use the 93 tune.....I don't baby it or beat on it either.
Very impressed w/the tunes though.

So you get about 13mpg on the highway with your 5.4l SD? Seems like your mpg is more in the ballpark as to what I would expect. There are some guys here saying 17-18mpg with a 5.4l 3V SD in stock form which sounded high to me.

Premium fuel (91-93) tunes will give you the most increase in mpg, mainly on the highway but of course the fuel costs more than 87. 5 Star has an economy tune which will provide some of th ebest mpg but it will not be as much performance oriented as the Tow and Performance tunes. I like the Performance and Tow tunes.

Me too! I run the 93 octane performance tune and get 13.5 MPG on average. I need to try the 87 octane economy tune to see just how good the MPG can be but I like the power too much!

I am running an Edge Evo programmer on a 2000 7.3L diesel with a 6 speed trans and get a consistent overall mixed city/hwy between 19 to 20. Approx 90 percent of my miles are highway. I run my programmer in level 1 (economy/towing). For me the programmer increased mileage around .5 to 1 MPG. Not bad in my opinion for any modification that pays for itself over time and creates a much better running engine. Hugh difference in the way the truck runs. Much more responsive, more power, less need to put the foot into it to take off. No other mods on my truck except the EBPV-delete which does give enhanced exhaust flow. The Edge programmer is a great overall package and I looked at others before buying.
