First off welcome f100ranger302 to FTE.com and to the dentside section, this section of the site is filled with lots of informed people who will be more than glad to help you out,
now secondly,
actually montana_highboy, f100ranger302 did state he has a 302w and not a 390, i know it may seem like no big deal, but mufflers do sound slightly different on different engines,
also he appears to be a new user, and probably doesn't know how to search the forums, or he couldn't find it, as more often than not the search feature is useless, and besides its not exactly the exact same question, as it involves different engines, thus a new thread is justifiable, also a new thread allows new people and more up to date info to be put forward, thus if we all kept reading old threads then people might get the wrong info, also f100ranger302 probally wasn't even on here back when older threads where posted, thus how does he know whats been posted in the past (again the search feature doesn't always work very well or at all)
now back to the topic at hand, i would recommend you look at some products from Magnaflow, as they are not dirt cheap, but they tend to have a nice sound, and will last you a long time due to there stainless steel construction (polished or un-polished) and the fact there made in the U.S.A. is a bonus factor, thus there best i can recommend as i have seen more than a few mufflers from different companies, and Magnaflows are actually less restrictive than Flowmasters, but i suggest you go out and look at some of the major players in the muffler industry and see what you like, many videos on Youtube and on the actual companies websites will let you hear audio and videos of vehicles with the exact muffler, and i am sure there are more than a few Mustangs with 302w/5.0 motors thus you can get a idea from there,

If anyone honestly thinks Youtube sound clips are a good representation of how an exhausts actually sounds in the "real world" then by all means proceed, granted they are fun to listen to but they are basically meaningless when used as a tool to choose ones exhaust for your own particular set-up, that's my only point, let the Youtube clips roll....

true, montana_highboy and even the muffler websites audio clips won't give you 100% real world audio of the actual muffler,
and when it comes down to it, i like to see a car/truck with the same engine and running the muffler setup as i plan for my own vehicle, then i can gauge if i like the sound or not,

I had dual exhaust put on my 73 302 over the summer. It was done at a local muffler shop. I don't know what brand the glasspacks are but at idle they are very quiet, not loud going down the road either. If you rev it up or romp on it it gets nasty loud. I wouldn't base my choice on any sounds from youtube.

Back to the point, I like glass packs or Flowmaster Original 40's on a 302.
Here's mine.
