50,000 mile tune-up
Hey Mick. You should pick up the haines manual for the truck or you can pick up the service and parts cd on Ebay. I have 65000 and as you know I changed the plugs(PIA) , air, oil, fuel filters, belt. I was going to do my brakes but I cannot get the bolts that hold the calipers on, OFF. I sprayed them with PB Blaster all day and let it sit overnight but still no luck. Looks like it will be a farm out job. BUT DO NOT BRING IT TO THE DEALER WHATEVER YOU DO. Good luck.

99XLT,
Which bolts are you having difficulty in removing? Is it the bolts that secure the caliper to the bracket or is it the bolts that secure the caliper bracket to the suspension? If it is the large bolts that secure the caliper bracket to the suspension, you will need some serious muscle as they are torqued very high. I don't remember what the exact torque is. The small caliper bolts should come out relatively easy. If you are changing pads only, you will need to remove the small bolts only, for rotor replacement, you will have to remove the large ones also.
Good Luck

21-26 ft-lbs

It is a good idea to go ahead and remove the rotor to change the bearings and to have it turned.

The way my dad and i removed those bolts was to get the biggest socekt wrench and a BIG hammer. It took a couple of wacks to break it but the bot finally summited to our demands and came off. you might try a long piece of steel pipe and mabey beat it a few times.
