abs light/overdrive light

well hay all,i have a 2000 ranger about 4 months the abs light came on, i checked the front brakes and replaced them, i did not check the back, the light is still on ,now today i was driving it when the overdrive light starting blinking, do you think one has anything to do with the other, i am going to go get the codes checked friday, any help would be GREAT,thanks 2000 ranger 3.0 with 145000,miles

You might consider a faulty rear ABS speed sensor (the one mounted on the rear differential). Not that expensive and easy to replace.

Another condition that can cause similar symptoms is a moisture-laden 40-pin harness connector located under the drivers seat. See: Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - View Single Post - 2000 Ford Ranger Overdrive light flashing

+1 on vss/abs in differential. one 10mm bolt and it pops off disconcert wire. put some oil on the new oring pop it back on. BUY THE BEST ONE YOU CAN GET

The one I bought for $12 at autozone a year ago has worked just fine in that time.

I actually bought the AZ one a year ago it lasted about 3 months. it cause some frustration to figure it out. I replaced it with another az one and that has been fine for about 6 months. If it happens again I am just going to get the best one i can find. Motorcraft if they make it.

Actually, correction. I think mine came from NAPA...and I think they were cheaper than autozone too.
