Finally got my V-10

I just have to say I finally got my V-10 and I'm loving it. A few years back I tried to convince my wife to go for a V-10 Excursion - no such luck. We added a few kids via adoption and needed to move to a full size van. Voila - 2001 E350 Ext van WITH a V-10 and 77K on the odometer. A lot easier, for some reason, to convince her on that one - maybe the rock bottom price had something to do with it.

Only had to drive it 1400 miles home. I love the power and the ride. And, I averaged just over 16 mpg at 65 mph for the entire trip. Not too bad.

One question, how easy would it be to add an aftermarket tach to the rig? I've always had vehicles with tachs and it'd be nice to have one when I'm towing the travel trailer next summer.

congrats on the van, gotta love the v-10.since you will be towing with your van instead of a stand alone tach I would suggest thisScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool it will alow you to also monitor tranny temps along with rpms plus two other readings of your choice.

Second the ScanGaugeII, a true simple plug and play gauge install. Lets you monitor a number of different items on your New V-10 E-series.
And WOW!!, your mileage was great, are you sure you posted the numbers correct? Maybe it should have been posted as 6.5 MPG at 16 MPH.....LOL, just kidding..great to see you are getting some good numbers.
Enjoy

scozim,
Congrats on the new V10. Great to hear that you are getting such awesome gas mileage! May it give you many, many miles of trouble free service. Post some pics if you get a chance.

rich250, jonrjen,
Will the ScanGuageII really track tranny temps? It does not appear that tranny temp is one of their parameters on the above referenced website.
Also, any problems using the ScanGuage if you are already running a tuner (SCTx3)?

Here's a couple photos after I got home yesterday afternoon. Love how it dwarfs the Suburban that will soon go to another home.

ragaz to see all the parameters you need to click on x-gauge on the website, that will show you everything that is available,as for it working with the tuner I don't see why it would not,but that would be a better question for mike from 5-star.

My Scangauge shows trans temps and a LOT of other things on my 04'. I run and SCT Xcal also. The Scangauge just plugs into the OBD port and does not have any affect on the tuner. The tuner reflashes the PCM the Scangauge just looks at it.

scozim,
That is a good looking rig. I guess I never really realized, but they do dwarf the Suburbans, huh? Thanks for sharing the pics. Good luck with the V10!

rich250/dkf,
Thank for the responses! Looks like a trip to AutoZone may be in order.
