Bent Running Board - DOH!

First of all, hi everyone! I am new here. Just got my 08 F250 about 3 or 4 weeks ago and love it!

I went to my 73 acre property yesterday and went up a clay dirt road that has been badly washed out by rain over time. The truck slid off the road and into the washed out part and BAM, down in there I went. I didn't realize it at the time but it bent my passenger running board up. : (

Ideas for how to fix that? I thought about just sitting my bobcat bucket on it to see if I can ease it back down.

Also, driving on that road was REDICULOUS! Would different tires have made a difference?

The mounts may already be bent, I am not sure but they seem to be.

What tires would be good? Just ask a tire store?

95% of the time for highway and city driving. 5% of the time driving on my property which is just impossible when it has rained.

i personally have the firestone transforce at's on my 2wd f250 and remington mud brutes on my 4wd ranger...the firestones arent the quietest tires but they are good... My dads truck has a set of michelin at's on it and they are also good too... Its also a matter of how much you want to pay... If you are ok with pricier tires get either yokohamas or michelins they will last longer and be a good riding tire overall

I have General Grabber AT2 on my truck and they are very similar in tread design to the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour. When the General's wear out, I am going to try the Wranglers and see is I get more miles out of them, as I am on pace to get less then 40,000miles

One thing that might help on mud slick roads with a light rear end pickup turck is to add some weight to the bed to increase traction. I can go places in my bronco in 2wd that my f250 has a hard time with in 4wd because the rear end gets squirrelly on me in the f250 due to its light weight. Add a couple of hundred pounds and the problem goes away. I'd try that before buying new tired.

well,,,if you have the Continental tires on your new truck,,,,mud and any offroading is very limited,,,,your going to need to make a choice,,,,good off road tires,,,,or qiueter more mileage freindly AT tires.

I have 2 sets wheels and tires,,summer,,my stock 18" Conti-craps,,,and a winter set 17" Alloy wheels(stock takeoffs) w/285/75/17" Hankook DynaPro RTO3 MT tires,,,studded,,and what great traction they provide off-Road! Good Luck with your tire choices.

CHAINS the best of both worlds. If you chain up your tires you get the grip (better I think) of off road tires but you get the quiet smooth ride of highway tires when you take them off. If you Only use the chains off road and adjust them rightthey will last a really long time. Get some with the v-bar and you will go places even the most aggressive mud tires will bog down.

Good place to look Tire Chains by TireChains.com
