cheaper way to fix gas leak?
my truck is leaking from the hose that connects to the filler neck and to the top of the tank. its not bad, it doesn't even hit the ground, but i saw it was moist when i was fixing my e-brake about a week ago and i looked again today and it is still wet.
i went to the dealer and they will only sell me the whole assembly for $250.00!!!
Is there a way to just replace the hose and not the whole thing? The hose is old and crusty so I think that's the only reason it's leaking..
truck is 95 f150 3006 5speed 2wd reg cab long bed

The fill neck attachted to the body, the pipes inside the rubber hose and maybe a few misc. other things. Maybe the parts guy was mistaken, but that is what I was told and the only other dealer is ~30 minutes away.

......My advice is probably not the best, but I'm mad at my truck right now. I'm trying to isolate a intermittent no crank problem at the moment. Its got me to the point were I park on declines. Thank goodness for standard trans, or the pizza would have been cold by the time I could have thumbed a ride home tonight.

Don't use radiator hose for a gas filler. There are different kinds of rubber compounds for different applications. A radiator hose will dissolve and add crap to tank filter and injectors. It may take a while B4 it gets you, but the repair bill will be higher than if you just did it right to begin with. Check with LMC; I don't think I paid anywhere near the $250 you got quoted from dealer.
