Thinking of 06 F150 purchase,need advice
I made the mistake of trading my 03 f150, now I want a truck again. I am looking at a 06 F150 supercrew lariat, 4x4, 5.4 with 79K miles. The truck is at a ford dealership and is Certified, which I was told means I have the remainder of the 6 year 100k warranty. I will by additional warranty. Do any of you have any advice for me. SHould I worry about the miles? Any problems with that particular truck or motor? Should I ask about any updates? Spark plugs or spark plug holes, are they still an issue? Thanks in advance for your help, This is my first post here, hopefully first of many.

your old truck will haunt you...
If the dealership is giving a fair deal price-wise, tell them you'll buy it after they change the plugs! ...yes those are still an issue with the 5.4 from what most folks are saying. Mark a plug or two with a laundry marker or something while on a "test drive" to ensure they actually do it.

As for the miles I wouldn't really worry about it, I think these trucks could easily go 200k or more. Plus it's the Lariat trim line so they took some time putting it together.
Good luck and post up some pictures after you get it.

thanks everybody, I will post pics. The only thing I am worried about is the tan interior...I am always doing something outdoors: boats, hiking, etc and I have a spoiled rotti that loves to ride, I already started looking at seat covers...how often do the plugs need changed? Do those motors have timing belts or chains?

I would insist that they put Champion plugs in. They are one piece design and don't have the tendancy to break off during removal. The leather cleans up real easy on these rigs. So that shouldn't be much of an issue. If you are really concerned, put a cheap seat cover on the front seats and good floor mats in it and it'll be fine.
