I would still use a pin to lock it in place, I was just thinking the brakes on slightly might keep it from getting away from you when you tried to rotate it.
If it's balanced it won't get away from you, the picture in the link I posted with my panel on it's side didn't have the pin installed.
on my frameturner the pipe that has the cross arm in it has a nut welded over a hole and a 1/2" bolt tightens down on the turning cross arm...and on both ends.. when you snug them down they WON'T turn... cheaper and easier than drilling all those holes
