help me fix fiance's big mistake!!!! i beg you

Hi all ,
I am new here and i am in a despertate situation that i cannot seem to get by.while i was on a road trip, my fiance' decided to replace the interior light bulbs in the overhead console( map lights i believe)on our 2002 ford excursion 7.3. anyhow, she and i quote" couldnt make them fit" so she literally cut part of the electrical contact for the two bulbs in the overhead console. the problem now is , besides no lights, is now the power windows dont work and the radio dont work. also both the batteries are dead so obviously the charging system was affected. does anyone know what fuse it is for the light, windows and radio? I have checked the radio fuse under the steering wheel, and its fine so i am lost.

out of curiousity as well, did anyone else get that recall on the cruise control and if so did anything get replaced when u took it in?

much thanks and in dyer need of help,
Matt

Check the accessory delay fuses. If you don't have an owners manual with the fuse locations you can go to AutoZone.com | Get In The Zone! and they have wiring schematics.

Why don't you just pull out the dome light in question and unplug it. If a fuse is blown, the easiest way to find the culprit is to get a test light and check them all. Will only take about a minute.

I would just check the fuses with a probe and light see which fuse it is and replace.

I went and purchased some new fuses from o'reilly or whatever they are called now that they have merged together. They are called smart fuses, and they light up when the fuse is blown.

hi all that have replied and ty for the advice. i will have to buy two new batteries and take it in, since its due for maintenance anyhow.

For those who think i just need to check the interior fuses or use a test light, please reread my post where i stated that i have done that ,checked the fuses and that both batteries are dead .

Not to be picky but you might want to look at your original post. Hope you get it fixed.

I know what went wrong. You folks dont believe in my theory about electricity. I am CONVINCED that electricity is actually compressed smoke. See - when there is a problem with electrical thingies, you see smoke. That is the electricity leaking out.

What you have to do, is carefully sweep up all the smoke that leaked out, and cram it back in the broken wire or socket, and tape it up REAL quick.

By the way, watch out for "bad rod bearings". Some say that can happen if you run your engine low on oil........
