EGR Cooler Delete vs Bypass?

EGR Cooler Delete vs Bypass?
There are a lot of EGR cooler delete kits on the market , and some are very impressive, BUT I'm a little confused as to why delete are better that welding both ends of the original cooler sealed.
What are the advantages of the Delete over a completely sealed OEM?
IMO there is little change of the Original Cooler leaking if both ends are welded.
Cost wise the welded EGR should cost $2 for DIYer to $50 for a muffler shop to weld it for you.

I'm looking for information.
I've read about so many people who paid for deletes when the block is so cheap.
Are we all just blindly following the leader?
I just completed the crack pipe delete and I feel the welded Cooler was less likely to
leak or crack the up pipe. Less likely to be noticed, if that ever becomes an issue.
Rod.D why River City?

There kit looks pretty solid and price is not bad. It's gotten good reviews here and on other sites. Also they are the closest performance shop to my location that I am aware of. They are 5 hours from me. Plan on dropping the truck off for a week shortly after my warranty is up. My rig had been paid for now for a year and I plan on running it 10+ years. With my current mods + egr delete and studs I should make it. It's not a daily driver, I have a company vehicle.

To each his own man. Some people will just do what you did some will weld up the ends and some will buy kits. Depending on the year of your truck if you put a delete in with a pipe that deletes the cooler you won't have to worry about the cooler ever clogging up, I think it 05 and later that used the radiator fin type internals in the egr cooler itself. If you replace the oil cooler at the same time of the delete and add a coolant filter at the same time you should be good to go. It's your perference on how you want to do it

Main reason is simply that with a bolt on delete kit...you can return it to stock if the need ever arises. After the cooler's been welded (probably the cheapest fix)...its permanent....after the intake has been welded (probably the most expensive fix)...its permanent....the bolt on delete gives you future options and is affordable.
